about KABUKI makeup SCHOOl
SINCE 2009

We are a teaching platform that accompanies the development of artists and people who seek a comprehensive approach: we are a perfect combination between crafts and art: Makeup, Hairstyle, Beauty and Fashion - understanding the image, its creation and production as a fundamental vehicle of communication.

Founded in 2009 by Jazmín Calcarami, Kabuki Makeup School has become a seedbed for contemporary artists, being the first Latin American school to merge the worlds of fashion and art.In a collective spirit of queer responsibility and diversity, we promote reflection and analysis, creating a space conducive to learning and continuous experimentation.

KABUKI brings together people from all over the world who want to be part of a community of artistic creation who understand the value of a creative and free learning process, where curiosity is the key to observation. Practice involves research where exploration and trial and error is part of a revealing process.

We encourage singular and original discovery, accessible to anyone, without the need of prior knowledge.

With more than two hundred graduates annually working in cities such as Buenos Aires, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and the United States (among others), Kabuki has become a reference for artistic training for an entire generation with national and international projection.

We participate in real-world learning, to train creators with critical and sensitive thinking who can confront and dialogue with the context. We provide resources and tools that strengthen work performance to cultivate individual development and career aspirations.

At Kabuki we teach you to develop a contemporary and avant-garde look at the world, its colors, shapes and textures, inspiring you to create your own universe in relation to everything that surrounds us to deepen ideas and turn them into reality.

JAZMÍN CALCARAMI (ARG ARtist)
Founder ー Director ー Teacher

Jazmín Calcarami is a multidisciplinary Argentine artist with more than 25 years of experience as a Makeup Artist. Daughter of a fashion producer mother and a visual artist father, Jazmin grew up surrounded by art, fashion and nature. She started doing makeup in 1997, when she was only 16 years old. At that time she was studying at a high school with a focus on ceramics and drawing. She then continued studying wigs and hairpieces, clothing design and photography. From the beginning, her gaze linked art with makeup, which made her develop a very particular vision for the time. In parallel and following her mother's footsteps, she worked as a fashion and advertising stylist until 2010 and then dedicated herself fully to makeup. That's when she began creative directing his own editorials, allowing her to fully develop and carry out her vision.

Throughout her career, she worked with great national and international artists, including notable figures such as Bjork, Nathy Peluso, Danna Paola, Carl Guzman, Valentina Ferrere, Victoria Pedretti, Sadie Sink, Gustavo Cerati, Cecilia Roth, Natalia Oreiro and Luisana Lopilato, among others. She also collaborated with brands such as Netflix, Moncler, Lacoste, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo, L'oreal, Avon, Maybelline, Mac Cosmetics, Vichy, Natura Brasil, Garnier, Nike, Adidas, Disney and Ford. For five years she represented the MAC Cosmetics brand in Argentina and then for another 7 years, Maybelline NY Argentina. Her work was published in magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, L'Officiel, Schon, Tush, Pap, among others. She worked alongside Erin Parson on several seasons of NY’s Fashion Week for designers such as Jason Wu, Ottolinger, Kith, Jason Wu, Jonathan Simkhai and Public School, among others. She was the designer of MKP & Hair for five editions of Designer BA working alongside designers such as Kostume, JT, Tramando, Fabian Zitta, Bomparola, Daels, Pablo Ramirez, Giacobbe and Laurencio Adot. Cirque du Soleil hired her as the official artistic makeup designer for the show "Sep7imo dia", making her the first Makeup artist outside of the Cirque team.

Today her practice develops at the intersection of the worlds of fashion, makeup, performance and visual arts, relating spaces of exploration from the body as the central axis of her research. From an early age, she cultivated a deep connection with nature and art, a sensitivity that has allowed her to see in each project an opportunity to express something unique and transformative. This sinuous/mutating path allows her to articulate movements to observe the gestures and forms that intervene in the interpretation and staging of the body: a tool for questioning.
